Help The Survivors of Super Typhoon YOLANDA / HAIYAN

This is a composite image incorporating data captured by the geostationary satellites of the Japan Meteorological Agency (MTSat 2) and EUMETSAT (Meteosat-7), overlaying NASA's 'Black Marble' imagery.

Five days after the onslaught of Super typhoon Yolanda (International Code: HAIYAN) had made a great devastation in the 21 provinces in the Visayas Region including some parts of Northern Mindanao and Bicol Region (Southern Luzon) were hit by this catastrophe.  The aftermath is extensive with forms of communication and power was cut-off, basic goods and necessities such as food and water are gone and some of the people have resorted to looting out of desperation.

As I can see on CNN and local news channels such ANC News Channel (ABS-CBN) and GMA TV News about the devastation in those places. I don't want to put the blame on the local government
units because of this very strong force of nature that is taking place. Relief goods stashed in the government warehouses by the provincial government where also destroyed.

The estimated death toll is 1,200 or more and the count is still rising. Rescue and retrieval operation are hampered by the torrential rains plus the coming of Typhoon Zorayda in which the first responders are having hard time getting to the destruction brought about by this disaster. HAIYAN or YOLANDA was category 5 supertyphoon with winds of 300 kph and. It brought along Storm surge in which Tacloban City and other towns of Leyte are affected by this “Perfect  Storm”.

What is STORM SURGE

According to Wikipedia, A storm surge is an offshore rise of water associated with a low pressure weather system, typically tropical cyclones and strong extratropical cyclones. Storm surges are caused primarily by high winds pushing on the ocean's surface.
